Sports and General Dietician and Nutrition Strategies

In an age of increasing confusion in the media around healthy eating, our sports dietitians are able to help you separate fact from fiction and give you clear and practical advice. They are trained to give food and nutrition advice to help improve your general health, as well as tailor specific nutrition plans to support your goals and activities.

You can expect us to attain a detailed understanding of your specific situation and body composition, performance, and health goals. Along with discussing any impact underlying medical conditions may have, symptoms that concern you, or stressors whether from family, work, or training demands and expectations this helps us understand your particular situation. This then enables a complete and realistic strategy to be customized to your situation, and allow you to achieve your goals.

Nutrition strategies provides a professional dietary and nutrition consulting service aimed to helping you achieve your nutrition, health and performance goals. We can provide specific nutrition plans to suit your needs.

We have a special interest in the following:

  • Gastrointestinal Nutrition including Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Food (chemical) Intolerance
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Triathlon Nutrition and Programs
  • Weight Management
  • Chronic Pain Management including chronic pelvic pain
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
  • Nutrition Education Sessions for Schools - Primary and Secondary

Rebates are available through private health insurance. The amount depends on your health insurance provider and your level of cover. 

Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan

If you’re eligible you can have up to 5 visits with a Dietitian per calendar year bulk billed, no gap to pay. Ask your GP if you’re eligible for a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan, previously known as the Enhance Primary Care Plan (EPC). These consults are 20mins duration. If you would like an extended consult, there will be a gap payment. A further 20mins will incur a fee of $52.95.

Cancellation Fee

If you can not attend the appointment we require 24 hours notice otherwise there is a $50 cancellation fee that applies. If you can not attend share the courtesy and let us know as it could mean that we can be caring for another client.

Strength training plays an important role in training for female runners, as it can improve performance and reduce the risk of developing an injury.What is it? The group program is run by our Exercise Physiologist with input from a sports physiotherapist and podiatrist. The program is 8 weeks in duration, broken down into the introduction phase, strength endurance phase and running specific training phase. The aims of the program are to teach you the practical skills and techniques of strength training and provide information on the following topics: • What is strength? • Why strength training is important for a female runner • How to fit strength training into your running plan • How to maintain a strength training planTime The program will run in the SPRAC gym on Thursday evenings at 6:15 pm to 7: 00 pm, commencing Thursday 26th of October and finishing Thursday the 14th of December.Cost The cost is $280.00 for the 8 weeks. If you have private health insurance you be eligible for a rebate under Exercise Physiology and a receipt will be provided at the end of the program to claim, contact your health care provider for details.
